Internal Investigations – a case study September 2017


FLA Winter Social & Educational Event – Tuesday 29 November 2016 – 6pm

The FLA is delighted to announce that Mark Ellison QC of QEB Hollis Whiteman and David Lewis QC of 20 Essex Street will provide a round-up of the year’s relevant cases from the civil and criminal perspectives, looking at trends in both as they have developed this year and what we might expect to see in 2017 and beyond.

Canapés and drinks, including mulled wine and mince pies, will be served afterwards.

The FLA Committee is delighted to announce that its inaugural international conference followed by an evening reception will take place in central London on Friday 17th June 2016.

The full-day conference and reception are being held in conjunction with the European Fraud and Compliance Lawyers, part of the ECBA (www.ecba.org).

The FLA has announced details of its final social/educational event of 2015.  This will be a roundup of the year in civil/criminal fraud followed by canapés and drinks including mulled wine and mince pies

Guest speakers include Nicholas Purnell QC of Cloth Fair Chambers and Nicola Boulton of Byrne & Partners.   There will also be short updates by Louise Hodges (Kingsley Napley) and Harry Travers (BCL Burton Copeland) on the s.2 interview and HMRC consultations to which the Association contributed during 2015.

This headline in The Times [2 September 2015] is an indicator of how private prosecutions are increasing in popularity.  Join us to get a practical approach in this important growth area, to hear from those who have actually undertaken a private prosecution or been part of the process and to consider how such prosecutions sit with civil actions. It is important for those who might want to bring a private prosecution, who might defend such a prosecution and for those who currently bring civil actions to become aware of this growth area of practice.
